Aputure Amaran Ray 660C RGB Bowens Mount LED Light

The Aputure Amaran Ray 660C is a powerhouse RGB LED monolight that delivers 660 watts of studio-grade illumination with full-colour control for professional video creators and enthusiasts alike. This Bowens mount fixture combines high-output COB technology with OmniColor spectrum engineering, giving you adjustable colour temperature from 1800K to 20,000K plus 360 hue control through HSI and RGB modes. With IP54 dust and splash resistance, intuitive FlowTurn knob control, NFC app pairing, and optional DMX integration via USB-C, the Ray 660C handles everything from controlled studio environments to demanding location shoots while maintaining exceptional colour accuracy (CRI 95, TLCI 95) that translates beautifully to camera.

Maximum Light Output When You Need It

The bare Ray 660C produces up to 38,500 lux at 1 metre (4300K), but attach the included reflector and you’ll push that to an impressive 91,600 lux at the same distance. That’s serious throw for a monolight, whether you’re overpowering daylight through windows or lighting large spaces. The unit delivers 45,904 lumens with consistently accurate colour rendering across its range, with high CRI 95, TLCI 95, SSI 80/87, and TM-30 94/100 ratings ensuring skin tones, whites, and colours look natural both on camera and to the naked eye.

Full-Spectrum Colour Control

OmniColor technology expands the red and blue spectrum for richer, more balanced light quality. You get adjustable colour temperature from 2300K to 10,000K in standard mode, extending to 1800K through 20,000K in CCT+ mode for extreme creative looks. The Ray 660C offers complete 360 colour control through HSI and RGB modes, plus stepless 0-100% dimming. Twelve built-in FX modes (fireworks, faulty bulb, lightning, TV, pulsing, strobe, explosion, fire, paparazzi, welding, cop car, and party) give you practical effects without post-production work.

Intuitive Operation and Remote Control

The FlowTurn knob provides tactile feedback for precise adjustments, while the clear TFT screen displays all your settings at a glance. Quick Operation mode gives instant access to key parameters, and you can customise shortcuts for long press and double click functions. Built-in NFC enables one-tap pairing with the amaran app for Bluetooth control up to 80 metres away. High-Speed Photography and Studio modes cater to specific shooting requirements, while optional USB-C to DMX adapter (sold separately) lets you integrate the Ray 660C into professional lighting consoles for multi-light synchronisation and complex cue programming.

Practical Design for Real-World Use

The Ray 660C integrates its power supply directly into the light head, eliminating external bricks and cable clutter. You simply plug in the included 5-metre AC cable and you’re ready to shoot. IP54 dust and splash resistance means you can confidently use this light in challenging environments, from dusty warehouses to outdoor locations with unpredictable weather. Active cooling keeps fan noise at just 28 dBA at maximum output, with silent and smart fan mode options ensuring clean audio capture during video recording.

Bowens Mount Versatility

The full-size metal Bowens mount accepts the included reflector, optional dedicated Fresnel, and virtually any Bowens-compatible modifier in your kit. The yoke design allows precise positioning and features dual junior/baby pin receivers for quick mounting to standard light stands. A built-in safety chain bracket provides extra security when rigging overhead. Everything packs into the included case for protection between shoots and faster setup times on location.
