Iris ‘Burgemeister’

Iris Burgemeister brings a gentle, romantic presence to the garden, with blooms that blend rich violet purple tones with softly creamy pink standards. The ruffled petals open with a warm, painterly quality, adding depth and quiet elegance to borders and mixed plantings. Rising on slender, upright stems, the flowers move gracefully in the breeze, creating a calm, refined focal point that suits both cottage style gardens and more contemporary spaces. Their nectar rich blooms are a magnet for bees and butterflies, adding a touch of life and movement to the summer display.

Planting Burgemeister is wonderfully straightforward. Set the rhizomes into well drained soil in a sunny, open spot, spacing them 30-60cm apart so the fans can develop naturally. Water lightly as new growth appears, keeping the soil just moist without becoming heavy, and offer a gentle feed in spring to support strong flowering. As the season unfolds, the blooms open in succession, bringing soft colour and effortless charm to the garden. With just a little care, this graceful Iris returns each year, adding height, texture, and a beautifully serene touch to your borders.
